The purpose of the Silver City Museum Society is to support, through fundraising and other activities, the mission of the Silver City Museum, a municipally owned and established museum. The Society is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1985. The Museum Society augments operational support from the Town of Silver City, enhancing Museum programming and public services.

An Award-Winning Small Town Museum with an Incomparable Setting

The Silver City Museum’s home is an Mansard-Italianate style house built in the 1880s at the height of the mining boom using local brick and lumber. The original pine flooring can still be seen on the upper floors. Repurposed multiple times, the building has served as a sanitarium, firehouse and eventually Silver City’s first history museum. It stands as a testament to the region’s rich history, inviting visitors to explore its past through its carefully preserved architecture and curated exhibits.
