The Territorial Charter Day Ball is an annual event organized by the Silver City Museum Fundraising Committee and held in February to celebrate the founding of Silver City in 1878. The event features live music, dancing, and drinks. It is a wonderful opportunity for community members to come together and celebrate the rich history and culture of Silver City. All proceeds from the event go towards aiding the work of the Silver City Museum.
The Territorial Charter for Silver City, New Mexico is a document that outlines the legal framework and powers of the town government in Silver City. It was enacted by the Territorial Legislature of New Mexico in 1878, and it outlines the powers and duties of the town council, mayor, and other municipal officials. The charter also establishes the boundaries of the town, and it sets forth the procedures for conducting town meetings and elections. The charter is an important document that provides the legal foundation for the governance of Silver City and helps to ensure that the town is run in a fair and orderly manner.
